Assistant Vice President and Function Head in the Macroeconomic and Monetary Studies Function, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Andrea Tambalotti is an Assistant Vice President and Function Head in the Macroeconomic and Monetary Studies Function of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. His research focuses on the use of DSGE models as tools for macroeconomic and monetary policy analysis and it has been published in the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, among others. His most recent work explores the connection between consumer expectations and macroeconomic outcomes using data from the NY Fed’s Survey of Consumer Expectations, and the causes and macroeconomic implications of low interest rates around the World. He has also written on the role of mortgage debt in the Great Recession and the housing boom that preceded it and on the sources of business cycle fluctuations from the perspective of DSGE models. Dr. Tambalotti holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.A. and M.A. from Universita' Bocconi in Milan.
