Ismail Dalla

Visiting Professor at the School of Business, George Washington University

Ismail Dalla is a Visiting Professor at the School of Business, George Washington University. He has extensive experience in international financial markets, including over 25 years with the World Bank Group dealing with both the public and private sectors in emerging markets. His experience include broad financial market reforms, capital markets especially debt capital markets, fund management and lending. His recent assignments with the World Bank Group include advisory work on a sovereign wealth fund, global development finance publication, global bond market development and trade finance.

In 2006, he was a core member of the World Bank’s East Asia Financial Sector Flagship Study and was the author of the Volume II (Selected Issues) of the study. His recent publications include The Korean Bond Market-the Next Frontiers published by the Korea Securities Dealer Association in June 2008. His earlier publications include Harmonization of Bond Market Rules and Regulations for Selected APEC Economies (ADB, 2003) and The Korean Bond Market-Post Asian Crisis and Beyond, co-authored with Yoon-Shik Park, June 2003. Mr. Dalla is also the author of Asia’s Emerging Bond Markets, published by Financial Times Publishing in July 1997. This book was a follow-up to his landmark The Emerging Asian Bond Market study published in 1995.

His work experience includes most Asian countries, Turkey, Kenya, Panama and all English speaking Caribbean countries. Mr. Dalla, CFA, is a graduate of Columbia Business School (New York), Faculty of Commerce, and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University (Bangkok). He is a frequent speaker at international financial market conferences. Mr. Dalla is fluent in Thai and functional in Spanish.
