Danthine Jean-Pierre

Associate member and President, PSE; CEPR Research Fellow; Emeritus Professor of Economics and Finance of the University of Lausanne

Jean-Pierre Danthine is Associate member and President of PSE (Paris School of Economics), Research Fellow and member of the Board of Trustees of CEPR, and Emeritus Professor of Economics and Finance of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland). From 2010 to 2015 he was member, then Vice-Chairman of the Governing Board of the Swiss National Bank. The holder of a PhD in economics from Carnegie-Mellon University and a MSc in economics from the University of Louvain, he previously taught at at Columbia University and held visiting appointments at CUNY Graduate Center, University of Southern California (Los Angeles), Université d'Aix-Marseille, Université Laval (Québec), as well as the universities of Toulon and Dijon.

He is a Fellow of the European Economic Association (EEA) and member of the Academia Europaea. He was formerly Managing Director of the Swiss Finance Institute and Director of the International Center for Financial Asset Management and Engineering (Lausanne & Geneva), Vice-Rector of the University of Lausanne, Chairman of its Département d’Econométrie et d’Economie Politique (DEEP) and Director of its Institute for Banking and Financial Management. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of CEPR (Center for Economic Policy Research – London), the Council of the EEA, the CEPS Macroeconomic Policy Group (Brussels), the Scientific Council of the European Science Foundation Network in Financial Markets, and the Executive Committee of the ICMB (Geneva).

He was an Associate Editor of the European Economic Review, the Journal of Empirical Finance, the Revue Finance, Macroeconomic Dynamics and Finance Research Letters. He has published extensively in macroeconomics and finance. His publications have appeared in Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Economic Theory, the Journal of Public Economics, the European Economic Review, and many other journals.
