Sagiri Kitao is a Professor at the Department of Economics at Keio University. She received her Master in Public Administration/International Development from Harvard University in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in 2007. Prior to her current position, she was an Associate Professor at Hunter College of the City University of New York (2011-2015), Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (2009-2011), and Assistant Professor at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (2007-2009), as well as Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs in Tokyo (1996-1999). Her research interests focus on macroeconomics and public policies.

She has published numerous papers in academic journals and books on these topics including American Economic Review, Journal of Monetary Economics, and Review of Economic Dynamics, and is a frequent speaker at seminars and presentations. She has won several awards and grants, most recently including the Nakahara Prize, Japanese Economics Association, 2016; Japan Center for Economic Research, Research Grant, 2016; Jiro Enjoji Memorial Prize, Japan Center for Economic Research, 2015; and the Tokyo Center for Economic Research, Research Grant, 2015. She is also a member of the Econometric Society, American Economic Association, and Japanese Economic Association.
