Adrian Alter

Economist, IMF

Adrian Alter is an Economist in the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department, where he has mainly contributed to the analytical chapters of the Global Financial Stability Report. Since joining the IMF in 2013, he has worked on various assignments including the 2019 Canada Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), 2018 Singapore Article IV, 2019 Serbia Program Review, and 2016 Russian Federation FSAP. Prior to joining the IMF, he held several research fellowships and internship positions at the ECB, Deutsche Bundesbank, and UBS Investment Bank. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Konstanz, Germany and a Master's degree in finance from HEC Lausanne, Switzerland. His research focuses primarily on macro-financial topics such as macroprudential regulation, housing markets, household and corporate indebtedness.
