Alexander Plekhanov

Deputy Director of Research, EBRD

Alexander Plekhanov is Deputy Director of Research in the Office of the Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London. He works primarily on regional macroeconomic issues and the global economy and edits EBRD's Transition Report. Alexander joined the Bank in October 2007. Prior to that he worked as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC.

Alexander holds an M.Phil. in Economics and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a degree in Mathematical Economics from St. Petersburg State University. He wrote a number of papers on fiscal decentralisation, financial deepening, commodity-based development, business environment and economic diversification.
