Amelia Fletcher

Professor of Competition Policy, Norwich Business School; Deputy Director, Centre for Competition Policy, University of East Anglia

Amelia Fletcher CBE is Professor of Competition Policy at Norwich Business School and Deputy Director of the Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia. She is a Non-Executive Director at the Competition and Markets Authority and a member of the Enforcement Decision Panel at Ofgem. She is also a member of the Advisory Board for the Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies and of the Oxera Economics Council. In 2019, as a member of the Treasury-commissioned expert panel, led by Jason Furman, she co-authored the influential 'Unlocking Digital Competition" report.

She was previously a Non-Executive Director at the Financial Conduct Authority (2013-2020) and Payment Systems Regulator (2014-2020), and before that Chief Economist at the Office of Fair Trading (2001-2013), where she also spent time leading the OFT's Mergers and Competition Policy teams. Amelia was also an Economic Consultant at Frontier Economics (1999-2001) and London Economics (1993-1999). She has written and presented widely on competition and consumer policy. Her recent research work has focussed on digital markets and behavioural economics. Amelia has a DPhil and MPhil in economics from Nuffield College, Oxford.
