Anja Sautmann

Director of Research, Education, and Training, Abdul Latif Poverty Action Lab

Anja Sautmann is a development economist and currently the Director of Research, Education, and Training at the Abdul Latif Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL Global). Previously, Anja was an Assistant Professor at Brown University. Her current research interests include health care in Mali, electricity pricing in South Africa, and experimental sampling methods for policy choice. In the past, she has conducted research on dowries in India and the role of age in the marriage market, measuring the allocation and variation in consumption over time, the use of incentives for employees who have a biased assessment of themselves, and the effect of non-pecuniary incentives, like "nudges", on welfare.
