Bent Sørensen

Lay Professor of International Economics, University of Houston and CEPR Research Fellow

Bent E. Sørensen is the Lay Professor of International Economics at University of Houston having previously been affiliated with Binghamton and Brown Universities and the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He is a CEPR research fellow and his current empirical research focuses on macroeconomic aspects of financial integration and on models of consumption. A significant part of his research studies regions within countries as potential paradigms for perfectly integrated financial markets.

His work, using regional data, has been published in American Economic Review, Journal of International Economics, Journal of Finance, Journal of Political Economy, European Economic Review, Review of Economics & Statistics, and Quarterly Journal of Economics. His work is particularly relevant for measuring the degree of financial integration within the European Union and he has lectured repeatedly at the EU Commission and the European Central Bank. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Copenhagen.
