Carolyne Spackman

VP/Economist at Chartis

Carolyne Spackman is a VP/Economist at Chartis, a subsidiary of AIG, where she is responsible for monitoring global economies and country risk for Chartis Global Trade Credit and Political Risk. She moved from the AIG Global Economics research team where she was an economist responsible for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Prior to joining AIG, she worked on the Global Financial Stability Report team of the Monetary and Capital Markets department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and prior to that interned at the US Department of the Treasury as an International Economist/Desk Officer in the Office of the Western Hemisphere.

From 1999 to 2004, Carolyne was a Product Manager for HSBC Asset Management, where she analysed investment industry trends and competitor activity and chaired the HSBC US Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) Committee. Carolyne has two MA degrees from American University, in economics and in international economic policy. She also studied with NYU at the United Nations in Geneva and at Renming University Law School in Beijing with Indiana University after earning her BA from the University of Chicago. She earned a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation in 2004. Her research has included sovereign financial crises and determinants of growth in emerging markets
