Chad Sparber

Associate Professor of Economics, Colgate University

Chad Sparber is an Associate Professor of Economics at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. He joined Colgate in 2006, and has been an External Research Fellow at the Centre for Research and Analysis of Migration at University College London since 2009. He received his PhD in economics from the University of California – Davis in 2006, and his BA in economics at Western Washington University in 2000. Chad’s current research examines the economic causes and consequences of immigration.

His recent work has focused on immigrants who are seeking or have obtained a college degree. His research on these issues has been published in The Review of Economics and Statistics, The American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, The Journal of Labor Economics, and The Journal of Urban Economics. It has also been discussed in the Economic Report to the President and cited in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, and The New York Times. Chad has teaches courses in the Economics of Race and Ethnicity, International Economics, and Urban Economics. He led Colgate’s London Economics Study Group in Spring 2009 and Spring 2013.
