Collin Hitt

Assistant Professor, Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

Collin Hitt is an Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, in the department of medical education. He is also a co-founder of Charassein: The Character Assessment Initiative, at the University of Arkansas. He earned his Ph.D. in education policy from the University of Arkansas in 2016. His research covers character skills, survey methods, program evaluation, medical education, school choice, education finance, arts enrichment, and student athletics.

Prior to his doctoral work, he served as the director of education policy at the Illinois Policy Institute, crafting legislation on school choice, education finance, and government transparency. He recently served on the Illinois State Board of Education, and has served on a state charter school task force and the national Digital Learning Council. He is also an advisor to the Governor’s Rural Affairs Council. He resides in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois with his wife and two sons.
