Costanza Torricelli

Professor of Financial Mathematics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy

Costanza Torricelli is Professor of Financial Mathematics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. She is member of CEFIN (Center for Research in Banking and Finance, Modena) and of the scientific council of AMASES (Italian Association of Mathematics Applied to Economics and Social Sciences). She holds an M.Phil. from the University of Warwick and a Ph.D. from the University of Bologna. She was Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute and has held visiting positions at the University of Cambridge, Warwick and Karlsruhe.

Torricelli’s research is mainly in financial economics and finance theory. She has written contributions on futures and option markets, the term structure of interest rates in relation to monetary policy and the business cycle, Basel II and procyclicality. Current research primarily focuses on the analysis of different rating systems and their implications for the economic cycle, and on the impact of population ageing on financial markets and household portfolios.
