Douglas Almond

Douglas Almond is an Associate Professor of Economics and of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University. His primary research areas are health economics and applied microeconomics, with a particular interest in prenatal health and its long-term effects. Professor Almond has been an NBER member since 2004, served as a staff economist at the Council of Economic Advisers during the Clinton Administration, and studied the health effects of air pollution in China as a Fulbright scholar. He received his BA from Carleton College (Minnesota) and PhD from UC Berkeley.
