David Jacks

J.Y. Pillay Professor of Social Sciences / Yale-NUS (Research Fellow / CEPR; Research Associate / NBER)

David Jacks received his Bachelor in Economics and History (summa cum laude) from the University of Memphis in 1997. Subsequently, he received a Master’s in Economics from the University of Memphis in 1998 and a Master’s in Economic History (with distinction) from the London School of Economics in 1999. His terminal degree, a Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of California, Davis, was awarded in 2004. Professor Jacks is currently the J Y Pillay Professor of Social Sciences at Yale-NUS College and Professor of Economics at Simon Fraser University. In 2015, he was appointed as a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. In 2019, he was also appointed as a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
