Fabio Braggion

Associate Professor of Finance, Tilburg University

Fabio Braggion is Associate Professor of Finance at Tilburg University and a Research Fellow of the European Banking Center (EBC) specializing in financial history, corporate finance and banking. One strand of his research studies the working of financial markets and companies in the UK at the turn of the Twentieth century. In particular, he focuses on the role of social networks as a tool to provide companies with external finance and on the working of dividend policies in an unregulated environment. A second area of his research studies banking in a long run setting and banks’ mergers and acquisitions during the late Nineteenth century: a period when banking and anti-trust regulations were absent. He has also studied the role of monetary policy in alleviating credit crunches in small open economies. His work has been published on the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of the European Economic Association, the Journal of Economic History and Business History. He received his PhD in economics from Northwestern University and his BA from Bocconi University.
