Florian Heider

Adviser, Financial Research Division, Directorate General Research, ECB

Florian Heider is an Adviser in the Financial Research Division of the Directorate General Research of the European Central Bank (Frankfurt), a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London), and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Financial Intermediation. He is also a Fellow of the Centre for Financial Studies (at the Goethe University in Frankfurt) and a Research Affiliate at the IWH (Institute for Economic Research in Halle). At the ECB he worked also in the Market Operations Analysis Division and the Monetary Policy Strategy Division.

Prior to the ECB, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business (New York University) and a Research Fellow of the Financial Markets Group (London School of Economics). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain and a B.A. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University. His research focuses on banking, market infrastructures, and corporate finance, both from a theoretical and an empirical angle. Recent work focuses on the transmission of negative policy rates, the efficiency of fire sales, and functioning of money markets. His work has published in the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, and other peer reviewed academic journals.
