Frank Song

Professor of the School of Economics and Finance, University of Hong Kong

Frank Song is Professor of the School of Economics and Finance, University of Hong Kong, Director of the Centre for China Financial Research (CCFR), and Associate Director of Institute of China and Global Development (ICGD). He joined in HKU since 1997 and has been serving as the Founding Director of CCFR since 2002 and Associate Director of ICGD since 2011. He is also a visiting Research Fellow of Milken Institute in the U.S. and Adjunct Professor in Peking University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Frank specialises in financial economics and macroeconomics. He is author and co-author of four books, Measuring Risks of Deposit Institutions (Garland Publishing, 1994), Corporate Governance, Securities Market and Banking Reform (Peking University Press, 2003), Essays in Modern Economics Research (Shanghai People’s Press), and Towards the Third Reserve Currency: RMB Internationalization (Peking University Press). He has also published more than forty refereed articles in top economic and finance journals such as Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Business, Economic Journal, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, and Journal of Development Economics. In addition, he has also published widely in Chinese academic journals such as Economic Research, China Social Science Journal, and Management World. He was ranked in the top 500 Economists in the world according to the 2002 Tom’s ranking.
