Frank Verboven

Professor of Economics, KU Leuven and CEPR Research Fellow

Frank Verboven is Professor of Economics at KU Leuven, and Research Fellow in the Industrial Organization program of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). He is currently a Managing Editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization, and was previously a Co-Editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics (2003-2008). He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1993.

His research focuses on the econometric analysis of market power and other issues in industrial organization, with applications to competition policy and regulation. His research includes the analysis of horizontal mergers, cartels, vertical agreements, entry regulation and European market integration. It has covered a variety of sectors, including the European car industry, mobile telecom markets, pharmaceuticals, consumer electronics goods, the higher education sector, and liberal professions. He has advised the European Commission, national competition authorities, and leading companies on various cases, including mergers, cartels and vertical agreements.
