Gabriele Ciminelli

Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics, Asia School of Business

Gabriele Ciminelli is Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics at the Asia School of Business (ASB), a partnership between the Malaysian Central Bank and MIT Sloan. He is also Research Affiliate at MIT Sloan.

His key research fields are international finance and political economy. One strand of his research uses high frequency investment funds data to study how macroeconomic shocks propagate across borders. Another strand focuses on the political economy of structural reforms. He is currently studying whether voters punish governments that implement fiscal austerity.

Before joining ASB, he was Projects Officer at the Research Department of the IMF. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Tinbergen Institute and the University of Amsterdam.
