Helios Herrera

Professor of Economics, University of Warwick. Director CEPR POE Programme

Helios Herrera is Professor of Economics at the University of Warwick and Director of the new CEPR Political Economy (POE) Programme. His research interests are in political economy, broadly defined.

His past contributions have been on electoral systems and voter participation, on the microeconomic side and on political distortions of economic policies, on the macroeconomic side.

His recent research agenda focuses primarily and more specifically on economic populism, echo chambers and fake news.

He holds a PhD in Economics from New York University and a B.A. in Physics from Pavia, Italy.

Before moving to the UK, he was permanent faculty at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) of Columbia University, at HEC Montreal and at ITAM in Mexico City.

He has been a recurrent Visiting Professor at the New York Fed, at Pontificia Universidad Catolica (PUC) Rio, Brazil, and at European University Institute (EUI) Florence.

Currently, he is a recurrent Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics (LSE) and at the  Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) in Rome, Italy.
