Isabel Schnabel

Professor of Financial Economics, University of Bonn; Member of the German Council of Economic Experts; CEPR Research Fellow

Isabel Schnabel is Professor of Financial Economics at the University of Bonn and Member of the German Council of Economic Experts (Sachverständigenrat zur Begutachtung der gesamtwirtschaftlichen Entwicklung), an independent advisory body of the German government. She is Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and at the CESifo, and Research Affiliate at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn.

Isabel Schnabel received her doctorate from the University of Mannheim and served as Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods in Bonn. She was a Visiting Scholar at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the London School of Economics, and Harvard University. Isabel Schnabel is currently member of the Administrative and Advisory Councils of the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and of the Advisory Scientific Committee (ASC) of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB). Her research focuses on financial stability, banking regulation, international capital flows, and economic history.
