James Harrigan

Professor, Economics Department, University of Virginia

James Harrigan is a Professor in the Economics Department at the University of Virginia. During the 2012-2013 academic year, he was a Visiting Professor of Economics at Sciences Po in Paris. He conducts research on international trade, inequality, economic geography, and East Asian economies. Mr. Harrigan joined the University of Virginia in August 2008. Before that, he was an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for twelve years.

He has also taught at Columbia University and the University of Pittsburgh, and is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Harrigan has published many articles in leading scholarly journals, and is a former Co-Editor of The Journal of International Economics. Mr. Harrigan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
