Jean-Claude Toutain

CNRS Research Director

Jean-Claude Toutain is CNRS Research Director. He has worked with François Perroux at ISMEA for eight years. He was Professor at Université Paris I Panthéon–Sorbonne. He is a renowned specialist of French economic history. His research interests include the recovery of Gross National Product and regional incomes, the analysis of agricultural growth and the evolution of transport modes over the 18th and 19th centuries. He is the author of a dozen of books in quantitative economic history. In 1974, he was awarded the silver medal of CNRS.
