Jean-Robert Tyran

Professor of Economics and Director, Vienna Center for Experimental Economics (VCEE), University of Vienna; Research Fellow, CEPR

Jean-Robert Tyran is Professor of Economics and Director of the Vienna Center for Experimental Economics (VCEE) at the University of Vienna. Before moving to Vienna, he was Professor in Copenhagen where he currently holds a part-time position. He was Assistant Professor at the University of St. Gallen, and has earned his PhD in Economics at the University of Zurich in 1997. He serves on the editorial boards of the European Journal of Political Economy and Experimental Economics, and as an Associate Editor for Judgment and Decision Making.

He is a Research Fellow at EPRU (Copenhagen), CEPR (London), and CAMA (Canberra). He has held visiting positions in the US (KSG, Harvard), the Netherlands (UvA), and Austria (IHS), and taught courses in the UK (LSE), Sweden (SSE), and at various French Universities. In his research, he mainly investigates how markets and democratic institutions transform bounded rationality and social preferences.
