Karsten Neuhoff

Professor for Energy and Climate Policy, Technical University Berlin; head of the Climate Policy Department, German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin)

Karsten Neuhoff is Professor for Energy and Climate Policy at Technical University Berlin and head of the Climate Policy Department at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). He holds a Diplom in Physics from the University of Heidelberg, an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

His research focuses on the design and evaluation of policies in the industry, power and building sector to support investment, operation and consumption choices that align economic and climate interests. He published extensively in academic journals, wrote the book Climate Policy after Copenhagen with Cambridge University press and co-authored Planetary Economics, which offers an integrating framework to assess three domains of economic theory and decision making.
