Lin William Cong

Assistant Professor of Finance, University of Chicago Booth School of Business

Lin William Cong is an assistant professor of Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is also a faculty affiliate at the Center for East Asian Studies, advisor to the Wall Street Blockchain Alliance (non-profit) and several trading, FinTech, and Blockchain companies. Professor Cong’s research interests center on financial economics and applications of information economics in financial innovation and technology, entrepreneurial finance, interventions, and security design. He is also actively researching on China’s financial system and alternative data analytics. Professor Cong’s work is recognized with numerous accolades such as the Finance Theory Group Best Paper Award, CME Best Paper Award, Asian Finance Association Best Paper Prize, and appears in leading academic journals. He was named a George Shultz Scholar, Gerald Lieberman Fellow, and Kauffman Foundation Junior Fellow, and have been invited to hundreds of academic institutions, international conferences, and regulatory panels. He received his Ph.D. in Finance and MS in Statistics from Stanford University, and A.M. in Physics jointly with A.B. in Math and Physics from Harvard University.
