Petya Koeva-Brooks

Chief in the Advanced Economies Unit, IMF

Petya Koeva Brooks is a Chief in the Advanced Economies Unit in the IMF’s European Department, leading the work on euro area surveillance. Previously, she was in charge of the World Economic Studies division in the Research Department that produces the IMF’s flagship multilateral surveillance publication, the World Economic Outlook. A national of Bulgaria, she joined the IMF after obtaining her Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000 and B.A. from Smith College in 1996.

Since then, Ms. Koeva Brooks has worked as a Country Economist on the Euro Area, Turkey, Thailand, Ireland, United Kingdom, India, and Nepal and as a Mission Chief to Iceland in 2008. During 2005–06, she was a Currency Strategist at Barclays Capital in London.
