Sofoklis Goulas

Senior Research Associate, Hoover Institution, Stanford University

Sofoklis Goulas is a Senior Research Associate at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and a Research Fellow of the Global Labor Organization. Prior to joining Stanford, he worked as a researcher at the Center for Community Capital at the University of North Carolina and the Bank of Greece. He has also been an Emerging Education Policy Scholar with the American Enterprise Institute and the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. His expertise lies within applied microeconomics with emphasis on the economics of education and applied econometrics for program and policy evaluation. His research focuses on school choice, inequalities in educational opportunity and outcomes, and student peer effects. He holds an M.Sc. in Finance and Economics from Warwick Business School in the UK, an MS and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Fulbright Fellowship and the UNC Impact Award for Outstanding Graduate Research are among Dr. Goulas' varied honors and fellowships.
