Srobona Mitra

Economist in the European Department of the IMF

Srobona Mitra is an Economist in the European Department of the IMF, where she works on Emerging Europe Regional issues. She has also worked on Hungary in the same department and on European financial sector surveillance in the Monetary and Capital Markets Department in the past. Her work focuses on macroeconomic aspects of banking risk, in particular on spillover risks between large banks and banking systems and interactions between banking risk and quality of supervision in emerging Europe.

She has contributed to several chapters in the Regional Economic Outlook for Europe. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, with a dissertation on government debt and monetary policy, and a BSc from Calcutta University in India.
