Stefanie Stantcheva

Professor of Economics, Harvard University; and Research Fellow CEPR and NBER

Stefanie Stantcheva is currently a Professor in Economics at Harvard. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from MIT in 2014 and was a junior fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows 2014-2016 before joining the Economics Department at Harvard in 2016. Her research focuses on the optimal design of the tax system and public policies, taking into account labor market features, more complex social preferences, and long-term effects such as human capital acquisition and innovation by people and firms. Part of her work is centered around the study of empirical effects of taxation of individuals and firms on inequality, top incomes, migration, human capital, and innovation. She also explores how people form their social preferences towards redistribution using large-scale online survey and experiment tools
