Xavier Sala-i-Martin

J. and M. Grossman Professor of Economics of Economics, Columbia University

Xavier Sala-i-Martin is the J. and M. Grossman Professor of Economics at Columbia University in New York and the Chief Economic Advisor of the Center for Global Competitiveness and Performance at the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland. He is also an Associate Researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a member of the Counseling Board of Telefonica in Catalunya.

Prior to joining Columbia University, Xavier taught economics at Yale University, Harvard University and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (in Barcelona), and was a Research Fellow at the Centre for European Policy Research in London. After completing his undergraduate degree in Barcelona he moved to Harvard University where he completed his Masters degree in International Finance and his PhD in Economics.
