Yasin Mimir

Senior Economist, Norges Bank

Yasin Mimir is a Senior Economist at the Monetary Policy Department of Norges Bank. Before joining Norges Bank, he was an Economist at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland. His work has mainly focused on monetary policy, banking and international finance. His research includes topics such as the role of financial intermediaries in business cycle fluctuations; optimal monetary policy in small open economies; central bank collateral framework as an unconventional policy tool; and the role of macroprudential policies in emerging markets in mitigating financial cycles. He was a Visiting Central Bank Research Fellow at the Bank for International Settlements in 2015. He has published his work in several academic journals including International Journal of Central Banking, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics, and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.
