My primary affiliation is at the London School of Economics and Political Science where I am a professor in political science in the Department of Government and the director of the Political Science and Political Economy group at the STICERD Research Center. I am also affiliated to the Center for Economic Policy Research as a research fellow and a member of the Political Economy Group steering committee, to the Rimini Center for Economic Analysis as a fellow and a member of the Political Economy Group steering committee, and to the Baffi Carefin Center at the Bocconi University as a research fellow. I received my Ph.D in economics from the University of Chicago in June 2014.
I am the Editor-in-Chief of the Quarterly Journal of Political Science (jointly with Anthony Fowler). Before that, I served as Associate Editor for Formal Theory at PSRM, The Journal of the European Political Association and Associate Editor for Political Economy at the new open access Oxford Open Economics.
I use formal theory and quantitative methods to study democratic problems, including discrimination in its various forms, and autocratic problems. I am also interested in the Theoretical Implications of the Empirical Models (or TIEM) to use a term coined by Pablo Montagnes and Scott Tyson.
I teach political economy in the department of economics and the department of government at the LSE. I also have the privilege to feature as a Course Convenor of Understanding Discrimination, a 3-week online masterclass from LSE.
