€-coin turns positive in March

€-coin rose for the second consecutive month in March, to 0.15 from -0.31 in February, turning positive for the first time since the beginning of 2023

  • €-coin rose for the second consecutive month in March, to 0.15 from -0.31 in February, turning positive for the first time since the beginning of 2023.
  • The growth in the indicator mainly reflected the positive growth in share prices and the recovery of the qualitative indicators for economic activity.
  • The €-coin indicator developed by the Bank of Italy provides a summary index of the current economic situation in the euro area. The indicator is an estimate of quarterly GDP growth shorn of the most erratic components (seasonal variations, measurement errors and short-run volatility). €-coin is published monthly by the Bank of Italy and CEPR.
  • The next publication dates for €-coin are Monday, 6 May 2024 and Thursday, 30 May 2024 (to be confirmed).
