Jeromin Zettelmeyer

Director-General for Economic Policy, German Ministry of the Economy

Jeromin Zettelmeyer is Director-General for Economic Policy at the German Ministry of the Economy. From 2008 until March of 2014 he was Director of Research and (since July 2010) Deputy Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Prior to that, he spent about 14 years at the International Monetary Fund, mostly in the Research Department. From 2013-2014 he was a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. His research interests include financial crises, sovereign debt, economic growth and transition economies. He is the author of Debt Defaults and Lessons from a Decade of Crises (with Federico Sturzenegger, MIT press, 2007), and was the lead editor of three EBRD Transition Reports. He is Vice-Chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Fiscal Crises, and a Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Jeromin is a German citizen, was born in Madrid in 1964 and holds a PhD from MIT.
