Sergio Olivieri

Consultant with the Poverty Reduction and Equity Group in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit at the World Bank

Sergio Olivieri is a Consultant with the Poverty Reduction and Equity Group in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Unit at the World Bank. He received his Magister in Economics from the National University of La Plata (UNLP), Argentina. Prior to joining the World Bank, he worked as an Assistant Professor of Labor Economics in the Department of Economics of UNLP and a Junior Researcher in the Center of Distributional, Labor and Social Studies (CEDLAS). His main research areas are income distribution, specifically polarization, micro-simulation (statics and dynamics) and micro-decomposition.

He has written articles on labour informality, polarization, mobility and inequality issues, mainly focused on Latin-American countries, as well as contributed to edited volumes on inequality, poverty and social cohesion. He has also worked as a Consultant for various international organizations including IADB, UNDP and EC, and taught courses on micro-simulation and micro-decomposition techniques for public servants and staff in international organizations in Guatemala, Argentina, Ecuador and Egypt.
