Frank Verboven is professor of economics at the KU Leuven and Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (London). He obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Toronto in 1993. He has been a managing editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization (2019-2022), co-editor of the Journal of Industrial Economics (2003-2008), and member of the Economic Advisory Group of Competition Policy at the European Commission (2003-2019). His research focuses on industrial organization, with applications to competition policy and regulation. He is also interested in environmental and energy economics. His studied a variety of topics (mergers, cartels, vertical restraints and entry) and industries (such as automobiles, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, health care professions and local services). His work has been published in The American Economic Review, American Economic Journal: Applied & Policy, RAND Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies and the Review of Economics and Statistics, among other journals.
