Jane Leber Herr is a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Center for Human Potential and Public Policy at the Harris School of Public Policy Studies, the University of Chicago. She holds both a Ph.D. in Economics from UC Berkeley and a Masters in Public Policy from Berkeley's Goldman School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on economic demography and labour economics, studying the effect of young children on women's careers. Past work includes the effect of the timing of a woman's first birth on her wage growth, and variation in the effect of children on mothers' labour supply choices across different high-education career paths. Her current research continues to focus on fertility, both the influence of anticipated fertility on career choices, and actual fertility on career outcomes.
