PhD at University Of Stavanger

Jonathan Muringani recently defended his PhD at the University of Stavanger in Norway. He also has a Master’s degree in Innovation Studies (Distinction) from the University of Witswatersrand, Johannesburg in South Africa. He will soon defend his PhD titled: Institutions and Regional Development. Specifically. His research looked at decentralisation and the quality of government as formal institutions and social capital and political trust as informal institutions in the context of sub-national regions in the European Union. Overall, the research contributes to the literature on institutions and regional development. Jonathan previously worked in the telecommunications and energy industries, and as an innovation consultant and part of a team that pioneered open innovation practices in Africa.
