Karan Bhatia is Vice President and Senior Counsel for Global Government Affairs and Policy at General Electric where he oversees GE’s engagement with governments around the world on policy issues. He joined GE in early 2008, after a distinguished career in the US Government. Karan has served in numerous senior government positions, at the Department of Commerce and Transportation, and most recently as the Deputy US Trade Representative in the White House, where he was President Bush’s lead trade negotiator with Asia and Africa. Prior to that, he was a Partner at the Washington law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering.
