Raihan Zamil

Senior Advisor, Financial Stability Institute at Bank For International Settlements

Raihan Zamil has over 25 years of banking policy and supervision experience in advanced, emerging, and transitional economies. Raihan joined the Financial Stability Institute (FSI) of the BIS in 2011 and oversees its banking supervision dissemination programme and outreach activities to central banks and supervisory authorities in the Asia-Pacific region. He represents the FSI in senior groups of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, including the Basel Consultative Group and previously the Accounting Experts Group (2012-2018). From 2000-2011, he worked for the International Monetary Fund and an international consultancy as a banking policy and supervision advisor to central banks in Asia and Eastern Europe. In these capacities, he advised on a range of legislative, regulatory, supervisory, and capacity building initiatives. Before that, he worked at the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for over 10 years, where he held a number of positions in banking supervision, including, the head of the capital markets supervision of the organisation's Western Region. He was educated at the University of California-Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
