Victor Pérez-Díaz is Chairman of Analistas Socio-Políticos (ASP), Research Center, Madrid. Ph.D. Sociology Harvard University. Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid. Visiting Professor at Harvard, MIT, University of California (San Diego), New York University, New School for Social Research, Institute des Sciences Politiques (Paris). Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study (Princeton), the Wissenshaftzentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung, and Directeur d’Études Associé à l’École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris). He was member of the Committee on Western Europe of the Social Science Research Council, New York, and is member of the Academia Europaea and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He is author of State, Bureaucracy and Civil Society (Macmillan), The Return of Civil Society (Harvard), Spain at the Crossroads (Harvard), Markets and Civil Society (Berghahn), Europe and the Global Crisis (Gota a gota), and books in Spanish (Social Capital and Innovation in Europe and in Spain, COTEC), Italian (La Lezione Spagnola, Il Mulino) and French. He has published numerous articles in international journals. Current research on democratic deliberation, innovation, education and welfare systems. President of the Spanish Committee of Experts on the Sustainability Factor of the Public Pension System.
