Alessandra Sanelli

Alessandra Sanelli is Head of the International and Withholding Tax Division at the Tax Directorate of the Bank of Italy since May 2013. Born in 1969, she graduated in Business Administration and Economics at the University “Gabriele D’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara. She joined the Bank of Italy in 1994 and acted as Tax Analyst and then Deputy Head of the Tax Analysis Division in the Tax Directorate. She was Alessandro Di Battista Fellow at the Centre for Tax Policy and Tax Administration of the OECD between 2003 and 2004. Her main areas of expertise and research are: tax policy issues, namely those related to the tax treatment of financial income and financial intermediaries, taxpayer’s compliance burden, personal income taxation, tax havens and tax evasion, tax competition, exchange of tax information.
