Catherine Buffington

Cathy Buffington is the Chief of the Economic Indicators Division at the U.S. Census Bureau. She the directs the production of 12 monthly and quarterly principal economic indicators including housing starts, retail sales, and new orders for durable goods. In her prior position, she worked with Census Bureau and academic researchers to develop and produce new data measures of technological change. Cathy holds a B.A. in economics from North Carolina State University and an M.A. in economics from the University of Maryland.
