Dorothea Schäfer

Research Director, Financial Markets at Deutsches Institut Für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW Berlin)

Dorothea Schäfer is Research Director Financial Markets at the German Institute of Economic Research (DIW Berlin) and Adjunct Lecturer at Free University of Berlin. Her research focuses on financial intermediation and corporate finance. She has been the coordinator of several research projects funded by the German Science Foundation, the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung and the Stiftung Geld and Währung. Currently she is head of two work packages of the international research project "Financial systems, Efficiency and Sustainable Stimulation of growth (FINESS)" funded by the EU commission within the 7th framework program, coordinator of the cross-departmental research group Financial Markets at DIW Berlin and Managing Editor of the Vierteljahrshefte zur Wirtschaftsforschung (Quarterly Journal of Economic Research). Her work has been published (or is forthcoming) in several German and international journals such as Economics of Transition, Small Business Economics, Journal of Comparative Economics and Journal of Forecasting.
