Marco Del Angel is an Assistant Professor of Economics at California State University Los Angeles. Professor Del Angel’s primary research interests are in economic history, economic development, banking, and finance. One stream of Professor Del Angel’s research focuses on understanding how political changes affect economic activity, institutions and conflict. In particular, he has studied the impact of political control of bank supervision on bank and business failures during the Progressive Era. Also, he has studied the extent to which conflicts between Native American tribes and U.S. Army troops were caused by poor economic conditions in Europe.Another stream of Professor Del Angel’s research examines how announcements and health shocks affect asset prices. He has studied the effect of the 1918 pandemic on stock prices in the U.S.
