Michaël Aklin

Associate Professor of Economics at Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)

Michaël Aklin is an Associate Professor of Economics and holds the Chair of Policy and Sustainability at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), which he joined in 2023. Prior to joining EPFL, Michaël was an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He obtained his PhD from New York University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Michaël's research focuses on the economics and politics of sustainable and steady development, as well as the policies required to attain it. His work has been published in various interdisciplinary outlets, such as Nature Energy and PNAS, as well as specialized journals in economics (Energy Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics), political science (American Journal of Political Science), and public policy (Journal of Public Policy). Michaël has co-authored two books, both published by MIT Press, addressing critical energy issues.
