Yasin Mimir is a Principal Economist at the Monetary Policy Department of Norges Bank. Before joining Norges Bank, he was an Economist at the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and a Visiting Central Bank Research Fellow at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland. He has been a member of Research Task Force Macro Modeling work stream at the BIS, which assesses the macroeconomic effects of the Basel III reforms using structural macroeconomic models. His work has mainly focused on monetary policy, banking and international finance. His recent research includes topics such as leaning against the wind-type monetary and macropudential policies under persistent financial cycles with occasional crises; regime-switching monetary policy rules; optimal monetary and macroprudential policies in emerging markets; central bank collateral framework as an unconventional policy tool; distributional effects of monetary policy, and fiscal multipliers in open economies. He has published his work in several academic journals including International Journal of Central Banking, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, B.E. Journal of Macroeconomics, and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade.
