Gustavo Torrens

Assistant Professor, Department of Economics at Indiana University

Gustavo Torrens’ research centers on Political Economy and Economic Development. He is not only interested in understanding how institutions influence economic outcomes, but also the determinants of institutions and institutional change. He does theory as well as applied work, including laboratory experiments. In particular, there are three lines of research in which he has focused his work: (i) economic structure and institutions, (ii) institutions and public polices, and (iii) experimental political economy. He has published in Journal of International Economics, Journal of Public Economic Theory and Public Choice. Gustavo received his Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and he is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Indiana University.
